London Calling

It's time for the Olympics again, ahh yes that sporting event that just happens to coincide with the leap year.

Unfortuately the Olympics run through my trials so I guess I'll just have to watch the highlights. Usually I would follow the tennis (of course), gymnastics, and syncronised diving.

I didn't watch the full opening but I did get to see Maria and Nole carry the flag for Russia and Serbia. Don't they look amazing after all they are the reason why I'm going to Melbourne next year. Also did you notice that heaps of tennis players were flag bearers?

 Funfacts:
- There are 4 tennis players in the top 10 richest athletes participating at the London Olympics. They are  Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Maria Sharapova and  Li Na (this came as a suprise).
- They are as follows:
1.American basketballer Lebron James with 43.8 million euro
2. Roger Federer with 43.5 million
3. American basketball player Kobe Bryant with 43.1 million Euros.
4. Maria Sharapova (<3), who has 23.1 million Euros.
5 &6. are also basketballers so meh
7. Novak Djokovic (<3) with 17 million euros
9.Usain Bolt, having 16.8 million euros
10. Li Na with 15.1 million Euros.
- Also  Rafael Nadal would have been at the fourth position but he withdrew due to injury.

All in Tennis + Success = $$$$
- Did anyone else notice that Roger Federer wasn't the flag bearer for Switzerland, instead it was given to Stan. Well Federer actually declined it because he thought the opportunity should go to someone else. My respect for him has just increased (:

GPK- Review

Met up with my fellow Awesome Foursomers (well 2 of them at least) for lunch before and after tutoring for me. This will probably come as a surprise but this was my first experience eating out at the Plaza in Castle Towers.

Alright so we ordered hot chocolate, Carbona and Bolognese. Price wise it was reasonable although in comparison to other restaurants, I wouldn't go back to GPK. First of all, the sizing wasn't great, I mean I'd like to think that I'm not a big eater but I do expect a healthy serving especially when the price is average. Or maybe I just have high expectations because I've been to places where the food is nice, price is reasonable and the servings are very generous.
Hot chocolate was a let down. The price was okay but I found mine too watery for my liking and it wasn't mixed well.

This picture is misleading, the bowl/plate in reality was very small

After lunch we opted for a cool treat. Butter and I shared this tub of ice-cream with some friends except we never ended up finishing it but it was a bargain at $4 for 2L (that's close to 50% off).

Photo Journal

I wont be spamming with multiple posts (of the same thing) instead it'll be a photo journal of the past month (?) there about.
What I do when I'm bored i.e. procrastination is at extreme levels
City trip to shoe shop + business related-purposes. Went to Burberry and I'm currently in love with one of their trench coats except the price tag isn't so friendly so I shall save up for it.
Decided not to look at LV since I'm not a fan of their current collection although I did take the opportunity to take in the architecture. Same for Tiffany & Co and funfact I hate the name Tiffany and Vicky, I have nothing against those who are called those names but I just hate the name.

My dream shoe which I would love to wear for formal. These Loubies are gorgeous but again the price tag isn't.
My first Starbucks experience! Strawberry & Cream and I have to say that it's not as expensive as I first thought.
Supporting Aussie-family owned companies + study food
Macquarie excursion which was pointless.
NOGGI
More study food + new set of pens for the TRIALS (speaking of which... I should be writing up ModC v2)
ASOS delivery
These are what my shoes look like. For those who are curious the heel height is 14cm

Decided to have Grill'd takeaway. Only problem is that it's always messy trying to eat a burger on the go so next time I'm definitely having it there on the spot.

Bitter loves Joe Chen Collection

I guess I haven't posted in a while...sorry!

Want to know the reason?

Dramas and I revisited my love for Joe Chen <3 I ended up watching Fated to Love You and I'm currently watching Queen of SOP where I am constantly obsessing over the fashion.

Oh and funfact Prada is an official sponsor of the drama and there are macbooks everywhere (I think it's a sign).

Some looks that I'm currently loving:
MingEn pair up again although Ming Dao only has a cameo, btw I used to be in love with Ming Dao (: so no harsh comments please.
Totally irrelevant but much love for MingEn and one day I should just rock up to a boutique and try on wedding dresses just for the experience.
Shipping both dresses here, especially the one on the left

Cloak and earmuff, I'm proud to say that I've sported a similar look before

Loving the office looks it reminds me of the clothes in 49 days (another drama)
More looks

Giordano loves Joe Chen Collection:
Not trying to brainwash you but if you love Joe Chen like me then support her clothing line for Giordano and should be available in Australian stores. I shall confirm this soon.

I wish that these were in my wardrobe, unfortunately Giordano only made 100 of these.

No idea why but when I was googling looks from Queen of SOP the actor who plays the Scheduler came up. SO yeah, SCHEDULER FTW (dw if you don't get this)

Little Bow Peep

Just when I thought I was over my bow phase it has returned!
I stumbled on Coco's Tea Party which a fashion blog and I love her editorials especially on magazines.

In one of her posts she mentioned the Victor & Rolf Resort 2013 Collection and let's just say it was love at first sight. I wish I could just walk away with like EVERYTHING.

Below are some favourites of mine and even if I can't pull them all off who says I can't drool over them.

Who said that bright colours were reserved for Spring and Summer remember that this blog is called Life in COLOUR for a reason.

Office inspiration anyone?

Oh and don't forget that bows are always appropriate for a formal look because hey who can look past something so feminine yet chic.
Last of all, make a statement!  (that reminds me of Kelly Wearstler's horizon coat -now that is a statement coat)

Fashion Copycats Assorted

I think I mentioned this before in my first post but I have a tremendous sense of brand loyalty. I agree that not everything branded is pretty or can be considered value for money. Yes, there are many things are just ridiculously overpriced and I won't be ignorant about that.

So this is post is fashion brand/designer related where other designers/brands blatantly copy their competitor's design. Why is it that in school they ruthlessly drill into us all the malpractices involved in school assessments including the consequences when these ethics don't even apply in the fashion world. Here there aren't many regulations preventing someone from stealing a 'trademark'.

Some examples (and yes I found lots of examples):

The good thing about this one is that the blogging world made this case publicised so Topshop removed the sale of the puncutaion rings.

Diane Von Furtensburg on the left (original) "Cerisier" dress with Forever 21's copy on the right- is it just me or are they a tad too similar?

Some gyaru fashion 'inspired' looks:

Moving onto one of the most famous fashion lawsuits. In 2011 Christian Louboutin tried to trademark his coveted signature red sole when Yves Saint Laurent launched his red shoes with a red sole. Now as much as I love Loubies I think it's crazy abuse of power if someone tries to trademark the colour red meaning that no other brand/designer would be allowed to use red for their soles.
Behold the shoes in question or should I say out...
More on Louboutin but this time I'm in their favour
This time the baddie actually is Jessica Simpson, left Christian Louboutin, right a shoe from Jessica Simpson's self named clothing and assessories collection. Unfortunately for some absurb reason there was no grounds to sue her for blatantly stealing someone else's design.

Now the biggest failure of them all and before I begin if you own anything with Guess on it then throw it away or else every time I see you with then beware, I just might give you glares of disgust.

It's time to name and shame!

It's because of a stupid thing like artisitic license that allows Guess to copy the signature triangular Prada label by merely replacing the word 'Prada' with 'Guess' btw Prada came first (for those who don't know).

Then there's Guess copying Coach's signature "C" design by replacing it with their “G” logo, so how is this allowed  because of a thing called creative expression.

You know what's even worse is that they copied Gucci so as someone who spent a lot of money buying a Gucci wallet, boy was I offended when I saw someone using their Guess wallet which is a copy of Gucci's Guccisima print.
 Here's the proof:
Guess stop copying the 'G' print like you did with Coach, it's pathetic
Oh and shoes are definitely not off the agenda
All-in-all I'd think twice the next time I decide to buy something Guess branded and for those curious the person who had a Guess had the quad-G print which was banned from further production thanks to Gucci winning a lawsuit against Guess because of this infringment. I'm glad that Gucci won but they only received just over 4million which doesn't even cover the damage that Guess has done because they sold $221 million worth of Gucci-like goods.
Also (yeah there's more sorry) Guess doesn't do anything original, the Guess CEO Paul Marcian even admitted that he was "embarassed" by the shoes above. And there were also cases from Jimmy Choo, Adidas and Yves Saint Laurent so Guess only takes 'inspiration' yeah right!
Alright sorry for the long post but it's just something that I'm really passionate about so if you managed to read through all of this then thank you!
